The 2-day Audit & Compliance Conference 2019 was organized by FDB Events in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was an excellent event with participants and speakers traveling in not only from Asia, but also other regions, including the USA, Europe, and the Middle East. It was truly an international event.
The topics presented were very relevant to the issues and challenges being faced by both internal auditors as well as compliance officers. Sessions also addressed the concerns from the standpoint of independent directors of listed companies.
There were lots of discussions and takeaways for participants and presenters alike. The conference started off by the delivery of keynote address by the CEO of Cybersecurity Malaysia who set the tone and theme for the conference. Iyad Mourtada, an experienced trainer, speaker and practitioner in the space of Governance, Risk and Compliance, set the stage with his presentation and tasked participants to ponder, wonder, and reflect on the issues facing both practitioners and directors.
During the breakouts, there were discussion among the participants and presenters and lots of ideas and practical solutions were discussed and deliberated. Sanjeev was afforded the opportunity to present on Third Party Risk Management on the second day of the conference. It was indeed a topic that was apt to the challenges being faced by companies today and the solutions we need to take to reduce third party risk. Furthermore, Sanjeev was invited to participate in an additional 2 panel discussions during the conference.
